Zoo visit

After one of my doctors visits, since we were so close by, we made a little visit to the Hogle Zoo. I always love seeing all the wonderful animals and seeing the kids react to everything.
Zuri, the baby elephant. I can't even imagine being pregnant for nearly two years like an elephant! But little Zuri is so cute and playful, I loved watching her run around! The large cat exhibit was my favorite part! While I couldn't get a successful picture of both kids looking at me at the same time, I loved seeing the Bengal tigers playing around! There was one in the water and others that would come around and bat at it and run away. It looked just like little domestic cats playing with each other, just on such a large scale! And of course, the gorilla shadows. Even Jarom measures up!

Family Reunion

At the beginning of July, we headed up north for the Hatch Family reunion. It's always fun to get away for a few days and see extended family that we don't see very often.

Grandpa's tractor train is always a big hit with the kids, and I thought that grin on Grandpa's face was so cute, I just love this picture!
The kids got to do some fun little crafts, and Emilie loved decorating her little sun hat. They splashed in the water and had fun getting wet, once the sun finally came out! It was unusually cold that weekend, I was surprised the kids even wanted to get wet!
The trampoline was a big hit with the kids, we may have to get one for ourselves one of these days.We found the Idaho Falls parade and had fun watching it. Isaac was a bit distraught that he didn't get too much candy, but we still had a good time.At one point, Isaac scooted over in his little monkey chair and shared his seat with Emilie - and they didn't fight! It was a proud mommy moment to see them sharing and being nice to each other. We even watched the big firework display over the Snake River! Emilie was NOT a fan of the big loud bangs and preferred to watch from the car, but the rest of us enjoyed the great seats and wonderful fireworks! We stayed at Aunt Delia's house and the kids attempted to share a darling bed they had set up, but Emilie preferred her little portacrib. I guess she's not ready for the big transition yet! Isaac slept like a champ, and was probably happy to not have to share a bed!
They had a little saddle in the basement and Jenny posed Emilie and Michaela on it and took this shot. Cute little cousins!
On our drive home, we stopped by the airforce museum at Hill Air Force Base. Isaac had seen the planes from the highway on our way up north and had begged to see them up close. Luckily we had a little bit of time on our way home to take a look. It was a really neat reminder of what our service men and women use(d) to keep our country safe. Isaac, of course, thought the big tires were the best part.

We found out...

My dear friend Cami has been trying to convince me not to find out baby's gender until delivery, and for a few weeks I really considered it. The thrill of finding out at delivery sounds exciting and fun! But on the other hand, I like to have things planned out and ready to go.

So when we went in for the ultrasound yesterday, I was a tiny bit hesitant when the tech asked if we wanted to see the baby's gender. I asked her to just show us the image and let us guess whether it was a he or a she. When it got to that point, she got a decent view, and it was pretty unmistakable - we're having a girl! My mom was there with us and Isaac and Emilie were in the room too so we could all celebrate the good news together!

Isaac was kind of sad that it wasn't a boy. This morning, he asked me when he's going to get a little brother. All along, he's been telling everyone that he's getting a little brother, and hearing his conviction, I kind of believed him. I figured he knew something that I didn't, since kids are often right when it comes to things like this.

We got some great ultrasound pictures, and when we get them scanned, I'll them too. From her profile shot, she looks a lot like Emilie. I have a feeling these little girls are going to be pretty good friends!

Since I was getting the boy vibe too, I really haven't thought a whole lot about girl names yet! I had a whole list of boy names ready to go, but now we need to start from scratch. Any suggestions on what to name sweet little baby girl Hatch?
