Another fun summer week!

Whew, so much going on these days! I have quite a few pictures to share, so sit back and enjoy!

To start off the week, we celebrated Michael's (Jarom's brother) birthday. Happy Birthday! Isaac (who LOVES birthdays!) had to be restrained before he could blow out the candles, he was that excited. We had the 4-way walk through on the house this week to inspect everything before they put the sheet rock up. They need one more inspection from the city, and since the city offices were closed the rest of this week, they won't be able to get that done until next week. But the sheet rock should be delivered on Monday and they will start putting it up on Tuesday or Wednesday. This week was also Novell's family Lagoon Day! Emilie spent the day with Grandma (and I only cried a little after dropping her off - it was my first time being away from her!) and Isaac got some good one-on-one time with Mom and Dad. He was so excited to go on the little bumper cars, only to find out that it was a little harder than it looked and he spent most of the time up against the wall.
Here we are in line for the log ride. He was so excited to go on it because Thumbalina went down a waterfall in a log on an episode of SuperWhy and he wanted to do that too! Here is is SUPER excited to go on the ride! Here he is a little closer to his real feelings about standing in line for the ride, taken a few seconds later. And here are his TRUE feelings about waiting in line, even for something as exciting as a log ride. Good thing the line went quickly! And good thing he liked the ride! Isaac and Mom on the Dinosaur Drop ride.
Then on Wednesday, Jarom had to work late, so Isaac, Emilie, and I headed up to Bountiful to go to the Parade with Mandy and her parents (in back of me) and my little brother Chris came too! Here's a pic of me and the kiddos.
One of the floats for Bukos had this stuffed animal launcher thing and kids were swarming around it grabbing for toys. It was madness and Isaac ran to be a part of it. Somehow he came back with these little frogs. I'm not even going to guess what he had to do and who he had to hurt to get these, but he was pretty excited. (Isn't that shirt incredibly appropriate for him?!?) Then on Pioneer day, I asked Isaac what he wanted to do to celebrate the day and he said, very emphatically, that he wanted to go on a picnic, so we visited Dad at work and ate a yummy lunch on one of the outdoor picnic tables Novell has on their campus. We had so much fun on our little lunch date!
Then later that evening, we had some friends and family over for some hotdogs and fireworks. Isaac was THRILLED that his buddy Kaleb and his family came over! Since they moved, we don't get to see them as often, but Isaac and Kaleb didn't waste any time and had so much fun playing together and being cute friends.Jarom and his brothers Nathan and Matthew (and baby Michaela in the carrier). Jarom got to use his pyro skills and expertly lit off the fireworks we had left over from the 4th. It's a good thing we didn't have tons of fireworks because the kids lost interest after a few minutes and had more fun riding bikes up and down the street. Oh well, it's an excuse to get together and celebrate!

Memory Game

Memory game! This is a fun one so feel free to participate!

1. As a comment on this post, leave a memory that you and I (or Jarom, Isaac, or Emilie) had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Busy week!

This week has been Draper Days and we've enjoyed a few of the celebrations including the children's parade, the carnival, and the big parade! This first pic is of Isaac in the Children's Parade on his decorated trike. He only took out one older lady (I hope she's ok!).
At the park carnival, they have a little area just for kids with free games to earn little toys and prizes. Here's Isaac at the fishing pond, SOO excited to get a little orange car!
Isaac in front of the giant tortoise. They had a reptile rescue with tons of snakes, frogs, and this big fella. Isaac kept making such goofy faces!
Here we are at the parade watching the Draper Tank roll down the street. Isaac had so much fun waving his flag at the trucks and floats going down the street.
Emilie was a good girl through all the festivities! She's started cooing at me and I just love how her mouth curls up on the ends when she's trying to tell me things. I sure love this little one!Saturday afternoon we checked on the progress of the house. The framing work looks done and the shingles are stacked on the roof ready to go up next week. Most of the wiring and plumbing is done too. We're going in on Wednesday for a walk through before they start to sheet rock to make sure they didn't miss anything. Yeah! We'll also have a better idea at that point if they'll be able to finish before the end of August before our lease runs out. *keeping fingers crossed* Other notable things this week:
We all went to the dentist this week and Isaac did such a good job - he let them clean his teeth with their little polishing brush, floss his teeth, and do a fluoride treatment! He also got a "No Cavity Club" sticker - well, actually 4 of them because he took the whole sheet that they were on. I think they were being a little too indulgent. (And Jarom and I didn't have cavities either, but no stickers for us...)

And my dear friend Andrea had her little baby on Friday! Welcome Wyatt! He's a little guy coming in just over 6 lbs, so hopefully he'll enjoy wearing some of Isaac's tiny preemie clothes.

Muffin Tin Mondays!

I came across a blog today that is all about Muffin Tin Mondays. Check it out, doesn't it sound like a great idea?!? I'm going to start it next week (although I'm going to use my 6-muffin pan instead of a 12 just for starters). I do my grocery shopping on Monday mornings, so this will work out perfectly so that I make an extra effort to get fresh fruits and veggies for Isaac to try. Leave me a comment if you want to try this too, then we can post our own pictures to get ideas to help our picky toddlers have more fun with a variety of different foods!

And on a completely different note, here's a little conversation I had with Isaac today that pretty funny:
Mommy - Isaac, stop licking your sister!
Isaac - But Isaac is a puppy!
Mommy - But that doesn't mean you need to lick your sister.
Isaac - Look mommy, I'm a puppy!
Mommy - Don't lick mommy either, son.

I think my children are genetically blessed with very yummy thumbs. Isaac has been an avid fan of his thumb for years now and his sister is following suit. Sometimes you'll hear her just slurping away as she searches for her tasty friend. We kind of went overboard with furniture this last weekend. We've been planning on getting Isaac a twin bed so that Emilie can have the crib, but we were initially going to wait until we moved before getting his new bed. Well, we were at Ikea anyway getting other things and decided to just get the bed now. Nathan came over and helped Jarom put the bed together. Thanks Nathan!
Isaac's not sure what to think of his new bed. He likes it, but it's also new and a little scary. We just got him a Lightning McQueen blanket last night (we didn't have any twin sized blankets for him!), so I think that should make him a little less reluctant to take his naps and go to sleep at night.
Here's the house as of Sunday evening! They don't have stairs yet through the garage and the front porch area is still a mess, so I didn't go inside. Jarom climbed inside and looked around a little. They don't have the stairs going upstairs either. I think we'll have our 4-way meeting next week some time to take one more look before the sheet rok goes in. (yes, I know I'm missing a letter but that letter on my keyboard is stuk. grrrrrr...)

Mommy Moments

I've had a few mommy moments this week that I thought I would share:
  • While at Ikea tonight, I had the kids on the sidewalk (Isaac in the cart, Emilie strapped to me in the Bjorn) waiting for Jarom to bring the van around to load up our loot. Being the wonder mom that I am, and I was more interested in looking at the receipt than at the cart. Before I knew it, the cart started heading out into the parking lot! It bumped down the curb with a loud THA-THUD... THUD! Isaac was shocked at the impact and looked at me with a "what on earth just happened?" look. Yeah, I should have been paying more attention. Luckily he (and the contents of the cart!) were unharmed.
  • I dropped the kids off at Michele's house to run a few quick errands. After I had been back in the car and driving for a while, I realized that I didn't need to keep listening to the kids station on the radio and could actually listen to adult music! I just wish I would have realized that sooner.
  • This has been happening a lot lately, but in the evening, we'll go to the store to run a few errands (after a long day of taking care of the kids), and I'll be in the store and happen to see my reflection in the mirror. More often than not, I'll notice that my shoulders are caked in dried spit-up. At this point, I should be worried and embarrassed for wearing such dirty clothes in public (not to mention the lack of accessories or even a decent hair do - but I digress) but no, not me. My thoughts are focused on the fact that at least my shirt will launder just fine because, like usual, all I wear are cotton t-shirts these days.
So while I'm not very glamorous these days, nor the most detail-oriented, nor observant, I'm happy to be a mommy and I love my kiddos to pieces. :)

Shots and Stings

Emilie had her 2 month check-up (has it already been 2 months?) and she did great - clean bill of health! And she's growing like a weed, I'm so proud of her! She is now 12 lbs 2 oz and 23.75 inches long! She is 75% for head circumference, 79% for weight, and 94% for height! Isaac wanted Dr. Feint to look in HIS ears and mouth too, and she was a nice doctor and humored him. Emilie wasn't too pleased about her vaccines, but she only wailed for a few minutes. I think the shock of the shots was too much for her so she went to sleep (and is still asleep!).

On Tuesday I drove past the house with Rachele on our way to play at the park down the street and was so thrilled to see the wood on the lot! They are preparing to frame! I think we'll go out again this weekend and hopefully we'll see a framed (or at least mostly framed) house!
And the inevitable happened to Isaac this week - his first bee sting. He was playing on the deck as I was getting dinner ready and I heard him scream. I knew before he even made it in the house what had happened. It was pretty read and swollen for about an hour, but I put some baking soda/water paste on his finger and before he went to bed, he was just fine. Hopefully he'll be a little more cautious around them now.

More pics from July

We had a nice 4th of July. Here's Jarom holding Isaac and Emilie wearing their patriotic shirts, very cute! We drove out to our lot and saw the house, then had lunch at IKEA. That evening, Jarom and some of his brothers came over to light some fireworks, then we watched some of the big firework displays from our deck. When we move, I'm really going to miss the amazing view we get from our deck!
This is the progress that has been made on the house - not quite as much as I would have hoped, but hopefully they will start framing this week. As we left for church this morning, I saw that my day lily had bloomed! Mom brought over this beauty last summer (she says that it's the Claudine Lily since they all have names). I don't know how long the bloom will last so I thought I should take a picture to enjoy it even longer.
Jarom found this little fella on the front porch the other night. ???? I didn't think frogs could even live around here, especially when it's so hot and dry! Jarom showed the pics to Isaac, and ever since then, Isaac goes out every day to try to find the frog again.

Emilie's Blessing Day

As I'm writing this, I'm looking outside the window, grateful that our family festivities are over - there's thunder and a light rain falling! With our townhouse being small, we had our family brunch at a park nearby and the weather in the morning was perfect! There was a slight breeze, and it wasn't nearly as hot as it has been these last few days!

Today was a beautiful and special day for our little family as we blessed little Emilie. We were surrounded my family and friends and we celebrated this new littler person that has joined our family.
Daddy holding the person of honor
John came down from Idaho with his friend Katie, and Chris is sitting with them. Aren't my "little" brothers handsome?
Holding my special little girl
Andrea, me, and Mandy. Andrea's baby is due in 11 more days, yeah! All our babies will have been born within 6 months of each other. I think they will grow up being good friends.
