John & Katie's Wedding

I got back last night from a quick whirlwind trip to Atlanta, Georgia for my little brother John's wedding to his beautiful new wife Katie. Even though we were only there for two days and didn't get to see much of Georgia, it was fun to go somewhere new and to be able to be a part of their beautiful wedding festivities.

Here are a few trips from our quick trip:

Here's Emilie on her first airplane ride! She did great on the flight out there, but not quite as well on our way back home. Poor girl, that's a lot of traveling for anyone, especially for a baby!

This was at the reception as guests arrived.Mom, Emilie, John, and Katie at the reception.Katie and John cutting the cake - isn't it spectacular? As soon as the reception was over, we headed back to the airport and were able to make our flight just in time (we flew standby, but were somehow able to catch the flights we wanted!) and Jarom and Isaac were at the airport to take us tired and travel-worn girls home.

Fast, faster, fastestest

I saw this on a friend's blog and thought I would give it a try because, after all, I do data entry all day long as my job and I should be pretty darn fast, right? Well, the first few times through were quite humbling, but I kept at it until I got a number I could live with. And yeah, it sounds impressive, but the test is much more generous than most standard typing tests I think. Take the test and let me know how fast you are!

What's been going on

I need to do better about pulling pics off my camera and posting. But enough complaining, here are some pics of what's been going on around here!

Last Sunday, we woke up to a fair amount of snow outside! And besides the usual giddiness that ensues, a mild shrieking was heard from Isaac as he proudly proclaimed "It's Christmas!" And here's why - we, being amateur parents, made the mistake of getting one of Isaac's Christmas presents while he was with us, trying to hide it in the cart, but he still saw it anyway. We told him it was for Christmas and he couldn't have it until then. So for weeks now, maybe months, I don't remember when we got it, he has been trying to convince me that it was Christmas, and so I told him that Christmas won't come until after it snows. So there you go, it was Christmas. And no, he didn't get his present and still has to wait. Emilie is gradually becoming a little roley-poley. Some days, she loves to roll and can cover great distances, then I think she tires of it and won't roll for a couple days. I've been trying to give her more time on the floor to explore and practice moving around, but often, she'll just stay put and play with whatever she can find, even if it's Isaac's finger.
We had a great shower planned for my soon-to-be sister-in-law Katie, but we had one huge problem - only my mom (and dad) and I showed up. Yeah, talk about a great way to make someone feel welcome into the family. I'm still fuming and eternally embarrased. I made Dad and Jarom sit around the table so that we could play our one game (dang it!) and not feel like total losers.
Sorry this one is sideways, but it was so cute I had to share. Emilie is really starting to love bath time and splashes around so much! She makes such a mess each time, and I really need to wash the mirror (put that on my to-do list). What a cute little baby girl. Oh, the funniest part about her bath time is that she spends most of the time grinning at herself in the mirror! She loves herself! And before we took this picture, she was reaching over to touch the darling baby in the mirror.
Attempting to wake Daddy up, but instead of ganging up on dad, Emilie was attacking Isaac. She adores her big brother and tries to grab at him. And since her fingers are usually covered in cold slobber, he doens't care for her attention too much. Can't say I blame him.

Zoo pics

Here are some pics from our trip to the zoo last week with our friends!

Emilie's first zoo train adventure

Ben, Lincoln, and Isaac looking lovely and blurry by the zebras
Who doesn't remember drinking from the lion drinking fountain as a kid?
Emilie and Isaac on the carousel - Emilie loved it! She actually rode in back of Isaac once it got started and she just grabbed on and giggled the whole time. Too cute for words!

I wanna win

With so many contests out there that we publicize, I will make a plug for a contest that I am going to win. You can enter it too, but just know that this adorable bedroom set will soon be in my house. You can come over and see it, it's going to be fabulous. : ) The details for the bedroom set contest is on a cute blog I found the other day, 5 Minutes for Mom. In order to win this beautiful bedroom set, I get
to show off my sleeping babies, so here you go!

I am always so impressed with how quickly Emilie falls asleep at night - or during the day too. As long as she has her blankie, she's set. It's so darn cute because I'll lay her down, then she'll grab at the top of the blanket and nuzzle it against her face, grab a corner, then plop her thumb in her mouth. Within minutes, she's out cold. I just realized that Jarom might get offended to have himself put in the category of "sleeping babies," but if he's lucky enough to actually get a nap during the day, then he can take a little punishment. :) This was at his parent's house the other week. Isaac SOOOO needed a nap, so Jarom laid down with him and soon they were both out cold. Ahhh, how cute. This is what happens when Isaac doesn't take a nap - he calls asleep in strange places. Some days he will still go down for a nap willingly, just wish that would happen more often.Wow, seeing all these sleeping kiddos (and hubby!) is sure making me tired! I think I'll go to bed too. And dream of winning!

Tasty trick or treats

It hardly seems possible that we are already into October! The fall holidays seem to zip by with such ferocious speed and before I know it, Christmas will be on our heels. But since it's been so warm still, I hadn't given too much thought to the whole autumn experience, until today! We were so excited to celebrate Kaleb's birthday with him, his family, and his fun friends! Mindi always puts on such a fun party every year and it's always a great way to get in the Halloween mood. Here are my cute kiddos in their costumes - Buzz Lightyear and a mermaid. I still can't get over how cute they are! Here's a solo pic of Isaac. By this point, he was already tired of his hat and wings, but at least he kept the rest of his costume on. I think he was too excited to play with his friends. And what happens when Buzz Lightyear becomes a vampire? Count To-Infinity-and-Beyond-ula. Ok, that was lame, but I couldn't think of anything more witty to describe this photo. I just love how the teeth make him drool. And on to something more adorable, Emilie has a new favorite toy that she just can't get enough of - her feet. It's super cute and most of the time a great distraction for her, but when I'm trying to put a diaper back on her, it can get to be quite a hassle. She loves her little piggies and doesn't want to let them go!
Did I mention that they are also very tasty? Ah, to be that flexible! And cute. And able to spend so much time sleeping and lounging in pajamas.
