Emilie's Birthday

I feel bad that yesterday was such a hectic day for us and we weren't able to do too much to celebrate Emilie's birthday, but hopefully we can make up for that with a fun little party on Saturday! We did have some fun presents to open, had a yummy dinner at the Training Table, and ate some yummy chocolate cake (that I bought at the store, I'm such a slacker!!). But even if the day wasn't text-book perfect, Emilie still had a great day and loved all the attention! We had to sing Happy Birthday many times throughout the day and she was so excited to open her presents! (Isaac made sure to help!)After the cake, she made the funniest poses for the camera, I guess this is her "sophisticated" look.
And really, what fun is a birthday if you can't get covered in chocolate frosting? And I just loved watching her as we sang to her (and she sang along!). My favorite part is at the end though, enjoy!

Two Years of Emilie

My sweet little Emilie turned two years old yesterday, so I thought it would be fun to look back at some of the fun memories I have of my little angel:

This was my first view of her, and I love how she still make that face!

Even upset, she's still so darn cute!Shark tank at the aquarium in CaliforniaSecond Christmas, thoroughly spoiled (and covered in chocolate!)Some of the cute things she does right now:
  • Sings, La la la, princess shoes! or La la la, stinky train! or La la la, Grandma's house! (sung to Elmo's song)
  • Greets us in the morning with a very enthusiastic "Good morning!"
  • She sings the alphabet, but without a little help, she gets stuck after "g" and goes back to the beginning. Then it occurred to me, she's probably just a musical genius and knows that in music, it only goes up to "g," so why bother with the other letters?
  • She loves animals and makes the funniest horse, rooster, and bee sounds
  • Carries around her baby dolls and makes sure they have plenty of "blankets"
  • Loves Woody (from toy story) but calls him "Buddy"
  • Calls all cats "Gabby" and loves them all
  • Has to drink her cocoa, and if she wakes up in the middle of the night and is upset, she orders you to get her some.

Oh baby!

I went in for an ultrasound this morning to see how the baby was looking and see if the due date was accurate enough, and it was very reassuring to see the little baby and see that everything so far is looking good! We even got a little video:

I have an appointment with a doctor up at the U next week to make our plan of action (and I'm crossing my fingers that I like him!). In a few more weeks I will likely be scheduled for another cerclage, more good time times, so I may be calling around trying to get some help with my kiddos for a few days!

Today is also Emilie's 2nd birthday! I'll post more pictures of our birthday celebrations - when they happened! Sure love my little angel and I can't believe that she's already a big two-year-old!

I also had a job interview today for a team lead position at work. What a day!

1st and 10

I've seen a few blog posts lately where people post the 10th picture in their 1st picture folder, but this post has nothing to do with that, nor football either. Instead, it has everything to do with the little ticker on the side, the one that shows I am in my 1st trimester, 10th week. In addition to the usual craziness going on around the Hatch household, we can also add a pregnancy to the mix! I knew as soon as I had Emilie that I needed to have another baby soon, and even though I had hoped that it would happen much sooner (we've been trying for almost a year now), we're just thrilled and excited to have another chance at this whole baby thing.

Being a seasoned pregnant woman, I thought I knew what to expect this time around, but so far it's been a much rougher start than my other pregnancies have been. The morning sickness started almost immediately and continues to increase in severity, and my fatigue is almost overpowering most days. Luckily Jarom comes home from work in the afternoon so I can usually rest for an hour or so. As a busy mom who has no time for naps, it's been very frustrating, but I'm trying to be positive and just be grateful for the miracle that has been handed to us, and I take this sickness as a sign that hopefully everything is going well and baby is doing fine.

Isaac is entirely confident that he will be getting a baby brother in a few months and won't even entertain the thought that it would be another sister. Emilie doesn't really understand what's going on, but I think she'll be a great second mother when Junior comes around since she is often toting her little baby dolls around the house making sure they have plenty of blankets.

I'm still struggling with finding a doctor. With my other pregnancies, I saw the specialists up at the U of U's Maternal Fetal Medicine, but being in Utah County now, I had hoped to find a doctor closer to home that could still deliver at the U (I'm a bit partial to that hospital). I found one in Sandy, but with my risk factors, he wants me to also consult with the high risks docs still. Of course the doctor I had before (AND LOVED) is no longer at the U and I am faced again with finding another one, and I still am not sure what I am going to do. I'm getting close to the point where I need to make some decisions about cerclages and formulating a plan of action, so hopefully things will come together soon. I guess I had hoped that since Emilie's pregnancy had gone so smoothly, I wouldn't need quite so much attention and could actually be treated as a normal pregnant mommy, but evidently I'm still in the "special" category and need to take the extra precautions to make sure that this one has as great of a chance as Emilie did at making it to full term.

Baby's due date is November 28th so far. I'm going in this week for an ultrasound to get a more exact due date and take preliminary measurements, so hopefully I'll also get some little pictures of this little peanut to share later in the week.

More about Isaac

April has been a very busy and eventful month for Isaac! Not only did he turn five, but he got his kindergarten vaccines (that really did not go well) and had a dental appliance put in to help him stop sucking his thumb. His S's sound a bit funny now, but he doesn't seem to mind it. He'll keep it in for a month or two, until the habit is broken. He's doing so well, he hasn't sucked his thumb since the first day it was put in!Isaac also started his second season of soccer this week. Last year, he really didn't want to participate much and spent most of the games on the sidelines, but so far he seems much more engaged and excited to play! Here's his big pose after practice. And seeing that, I realize how small his last-summer's t-shirts are! Time to get that boy some new summer clothes. This is from his game this morning. He actually wanted to be out on the field and would run around! He even kicked the ball a few times, I'm so proud of him! His team tied the game at 3-3, what a great outcome! Way to go Sharks!

Happy Birthday Isaac!

I know that I am more than two weeks late with these pictures, but I just couldn't get by without sharing a few highlights from Isaac's 5th birthday celebrations!

On his birthday morning, he was so excited to open his presents, but I was a mean mom and made him eat his breakfast first. When asked what he'd like for his birthday breakfast (thinking he would choose eggs, pancakes, or something more fancy), he just chose cold cereal. Funny kid! At least it made my morning easier! Once that was out of the way, he ripped open his truck: And his little mp3 player. For a few months now, he's been begging for an iPod and a real cell phone. ??!?!? Isn't he a bit young for demands like that? But I found a killer deal on this little Spongebob player and caved in. No cell phone yet though, not for many, many years. Sorry kiddo. The next day was his army birthday party. When the "troops" arrived, we passed out dog tags and instructed them how to be good soldiers by repeating "Sir, yes sir!" when they were asked o do something. That was followed by a rousing rendition of "Drill Sargent Says," And an obstacle course where they had to climb over a mountain, under thick brush, and scale a narrow bridge. The troops were admirable in their physical endurance and skill. The final activity was to make paper airplanes and see who could throw theirs the farthest. Army cakes. Some of the figurines were so comically posed, but the kids didn't seem to mind. They just wanted to devour cake. The funniest part of the whole party was when it was time to blow out the candles and is big moment was hijacked:

I wish I would have recorded more of it, but I had to hurry and relight the candles so we could try it again!

And of course, the highlight for Isaac, lots of great, new toys!I can hardly believe my big boy, who started out so tiny, is now a big 5-year-old! I am so proud of him, he's such a smart, bright, and funny little kid!

New Kitchen!

The amazing guys from Elite Stoneworks came this morning and brought us our beautiful new counter tops! They worked hard all day and here is the final product (love how Isaac had to position himself in almost every picture?):
